Hate it!

Dont buy it. Its such a waste of money. I couldnt find the first 4 out of 5 hymns I searched for. The app keeps freezing. Its ridiculous. Just dont even waste your time considering it.

So far, so good

Just bought the app yesterday. I really like having all the music scores to the hymns. It is easier to put the ipad on the piano than trying to hold all the pages open from a thick hymnal. It is also easier to read the hymn on a lighted ipad that you can turn landscape mode and enlarge the page as opposed to using a hymn book which my aging eyes are finding harder to read. I also like the chord charts to the hymns which is handy when playing them with the guitar. The chord indicators are also on the music scores which are helpful when playing the written music. I found a couple of places where I would argue with the chord they selected. In one hymn they indicated a B instead of a Bb. Makes me wonder how careful they were to proof read what they had done. Also the chord charts and the scores are only available when you have access to the Internet. The lyrics are all available when you download the app. Having said that, if you pull up a score while in a wifi area, it will remain in memory even when you leave that wifi area until you close out the app (not just minimize) similar to how the iPad maps program works. So you could open the scores or chord charts at your wifi home and take your ipad to your non wifi church and still be able to play from the hymns unless you mistakenly closed out the app. You can email the chord charts and music score to someone. Im not sure if you can print straight to a printer or not. I found some instances where the bass clef staff lines at the bottom of a page didnt make it completely on. I noticed this seems to happen when the hymn has to go to two pages. You can set up folders to use as playlists to group hymns you want to use. For example, I set up a folder for Christmas music and put all the Christmas hymns in there. Of course the hymns are always arranged by alpha and can be searched for easily. There are a lot of hymns that have an MP3 of the pianist playing the hymn. If your pianist is out some Wednesday night, you could play these mp3s for the congregation to sing along with. This is my first app to pay for and $10 seemed high for an app. My church uses mostly contemporary music or a modernized version of an old hymn. Still, I find myself going back to pull up an old hymn occasionally on the piano and think the app will be great for that.

Great for family worship

I just bought this app. I wanted the SDA hymnal but by itself it needs a license. I think this is better anyway because theres so much more to choose from. However, I have already found one hymn that the words and number dont match the music that plays. I do like that the words are visible as the music plays. I want to learn more hymns by heart this way. Overall, I think its worth the money.

Not worth it!!!

Lots of hymns that are missing in SDA Hymnal. That I could tolerate because I just browse on the other hymnals and usually shows up on other hymns. But the latest update made it more worst. The keypad to enter the hymn number is no longer showing up. The songs are now listed alphabetically. Since there is no option to enter the number, it takes more time to scan the whole list and sometimes the song is not even on the list. Also the tunes of the songs are not going to play without internet. What a waste of money!

Glad this works again...but...

Im glad this app works again. The scores that have guitar chords an the chords alone are indescribably helpful...but some songs are still linked to the wrong score, for example, "Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus"; if you view the associated guitar chords, its "Tis love that makes us happy". If you guys can work on getting more licenses thats be awesome...there are a lot of hidden gems in "The hymnal," that arent present, like "O Holy Dove of God Descending" (270 in "The Hymnal"). Thanks again...too bad I the old version stopped working, I had to upgrade my iOS...so far so good though.

A must have for any church musician

This app has been SO useful. We use the Hymnal for Worship and Celebration along with Celebration Hymnal. Many times I get my scores direct from the app and import to ForScore. Its invaluable now that its working.
